Binn Group is Scotland's leading independent recycling and resource management company. From our Eco Park at Glenfarg in Perthshire, and from our site in Inverness, we handle waste and recover resources for customers across the country. We are a family-owned business that has grown substantially, and our Finance team has grown with it.
We are now looking for a Finance Assistant to join that team, with a particular focus on our treasury and banking routines and on management information.
The role
Reporting to the Transactional Finance Manager and working alongside our existing Finance Assistant as an interchangeable pair, you will take day-to-day ownership of the Group's treasury and banking routines and help produce our management information. That means:
- Completing the daily bank reconciliations for Glenfarg and Inverness, so the Group starts every day knowing its ledgers are right
- Producing the daily cash position and maintaining a rolling short-term cash forecast
- Preparing weekly and monthly payments for release. Authorisation and release of payments sits separately, with the Head of Finance or Finance Director
- Working as an interchangeable pair with the other Finance Assistant on the core finance assistant duties, and providing cover for the purchase order process and the purchase ledger
There is a genuine improvement agenda attached to this role. We want someone who will document how things are done and share knowledge across the team, so that no daily task or recurring report sits with only one person.
About you
- Solid hands-on experience of finance assistant, treasury or transactional finance work, in particular bank reconciliation and cash allocation
- Strong Excel. Sage 200 experience a real advantage but training will be provided
- Organised and reliable with daily routines, and comfortable flagging anything that looks wrong rather than letting it pass
- Someone who spots a better way of doing something and then goes and does it
No formal qualification is essential. AAT qualification, or study towards it, is welcome, and we are equally happy to hear from candidates who are qualified by experience.
What we offer
- Salary £26,000 to £30,000, dependent on experience
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Your main place of work will be our office at Binn Eco Park. We would encourage you to spend as much time as possible in the office, however hybrid working requests will be considered and agreed with the Head of Finance
- 28 days' annual holiday, inclusive of the four public holidays, rising with continuous service
- Royal London workplace pension, with our employer contribution increasing with length of service
- Life assurance of three times annual earnings after three months' service, including access to AIG's Smart Health Hub with unlimited GP access and a second opinion service
- Confidential Employee Assistance Programme, free to you, offering advice, support and counselling on personal and work-related matters
- Support for training and development, from informal skills training through to modern apprenticeships and degree programmes
- A permanent role in a finance team that is actively investing in better systems and better ways of working
- On-site parking at Binn Eco Park, in a rural setting between Perth and Kinross
