Position Title: Principal
Reports To: CEO
The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Kathmandu, Nepal.
Accommodation and two-way transportation will be provided by the Company. The candidate will be responsible for their own food, personal expenses and utility costs.
Job Purpose
The Principal is the senior academic and institutional leader of the College, responsible for providing strategic, academic and operational leadership.
The Principal will ensure the effective management and continued development of the College, maintaining high standards of academic quality, student experience, regulatory compliance, governance and institutional performance.
The Principal will work closely with the Board of Directors, CEO, senior management and external stakeholders to deliver the College's strategic objectives, sustainable growth and long-term development.
Accountable To
The Principal is accountable to the CEO, Board of Directors and Advisory Board for the effective leadership, management and overall performance of the College.
1. Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Provide overall strategic leadership and direction for the College.
- Lead the implementation of the College's vision, mission and strategic objectives.
- Work closely with the Board and senior management on institutional development and growth.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
2. Academic Leadership & Excellence
- Provide overall leadership for academic standards and quality.
- Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum development.
- Monitor student academic performance, progression, retention and completion.
- Encourage innovative and student-centred approaches to education.
3. Quality Assurance & Accreditation
- Ensure effective implementation of internal quality assurance systems.
- Maintain compliance with awarding bodies, accrediting organisations and university partners.
- Lead the College through external audits, inspections and accreditation reviews.
- Ensure appropriate quality improvement plans are implemented.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Nepalese regulations and institutional requirements.
- Implement policies and strategic decisions approved by the Board.
- Maintain effective governance, reporting and accountability systems.
- Identify and manage institutional risks and compliance requirements.
5. Student Experience & Welfare
- Ensure student welfare, wellbeing and satisfaction remain key priorities.
- Oversee systems for student support, attendance, discipline, complaints and grievances.
- Promote student engagement through extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
- Strengthen opportunities for internships, placements and graduate employment.
6. Staff Leadership & Development
- Lead and motivate academic and administrative teams.
- Ensure recruitment and retention of suitably qualified and experienced staff.
- Promote staff development, performance management and career progression.
- Build a culture of professionalism, teamwork and accountability.
7. Institutional Growth & Development
- Lead the sustainable growth and development of the College.
- Identify opportunities for new programmes, initiatives and international engagement.
- Strengthen the College's academic offering and institutional capabilities.
- Ensure effective use and development of College resources and facilities.
8. Partnerships & External Relations
- Develop strong relationships with universities, awarding bodies and professional organisations.
- Build relationships with businesses and industry partners to support student opportunities.
- Represent the College at national and international meetings and events.
- Strengthen international partnerships and student mobility opportunities.
9. Marketing, Recruitment & Reputation
- Provide strategic leadership for student recruitment and marketing activities.
- Support initiatives to increase enrolment and strengthen the College's market position.
- Promote the College's academic achievements and institutional strengths.
- Enhance and protect the reputation of The British College nationally and internationally.
10. Financial & Institutional Performance
- Provide strategic oversight of the College's financial sustainability.
- Work with senior management on budgets, resource planning and institutional targets.
- Ensure resources are utilised efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor institutional performance against agreed objectives and take appropriate action to achieve targets.
