Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Zero Hours Warehouse Operative to join our team. This role offers flexible working hours and involves supporting daily warehouse operations, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping & receiving. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced logistics environment.
Duties
- Assist with materials handling tasks such as picking, packing, stocking, and load & unload activities to ensure efficient workflow.
- Operate forklifts safely and effectively for moving heavy or bulky items around the warehouse.
- Manage stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS) to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Support shipping & receiving processes by preparing shipments, verifying orders, and inspecting incoming goods for quality control.
- Conduct quality checks on products and packaging to uphold company standards.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Experience
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is essential.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar inventory software is desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with basic equipment maintenance is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and load/unload duties reliably.
- Demonstrated understanding of shipping & receiving procedures, stock control, and quality assurance processes.
