We are seeking a reliable, friendly, and proactive Bar Steward to lead the day-to-day operation of our bar and help deliver an excellent experience for our members.
The Role
As Bar Steward, you will be a business focused, profit driven individual responsible for the efficient running of the bar, ensuring high standards of customer service, stock control, cleanliness, and compliance with licensing regulations. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and maintaining strong relationships with members and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve bar sales leading to increased profitability.
- Supervise and manage the bar team including scheduling training and performance evaluations.
- Co-ordinate with Chef /Kitchen staff to ensure seamless service at all times, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the club bar, including maintaining stack levels, order supplies and managing inventory.
- Provide excellent customer service to members and guests.
- Ensure the bar is fully stocked and manage stock ordering and control.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the bar area.
- Manage and support bar staff to deliver excellent service.
- Lead by example in maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude within the team.
- Handle cash, card transactions, and end-of-day reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health and safety, and food hygiene regulations.
- Organisation and running of club events, functions, entertainment evenings and special events and promotions to attract new customers.
- Build positive relationships with members and contribute to the friendly atmosphere of the club.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must have a friendly, positive, personality who genuinely enjoys meeting and assisting people, good common sense, a helpful attitude, lots of energy and a smile.
- Proven leadership experience working in a bar, club, pub, or hospitality environment.
- Good people management skills with the ability to motivate a small friendly team.
- A smart and tidy appearance with high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience with stock management and cash handling.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, and grow the business.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A flexible approach to working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of licensing regulations is essential.
