As Vivo establishes itself as a leading provider of guided surgery solutions in the dental sector, we are continuing to invest in the development of our own software, digital workflows, and integrations, with artificial intelligence playing an increasingly important role in how cases are planned, reviewed, and delivered.
To support this development, we are looking for an experienced Guided Surgery Implementation & Testing Specialistwith a strong background in dental case planning and guided surgery.
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of clinical case planning, software development, workflow implementation, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will work with our development and guided surgery teams to test new software and workflows using real-world cases, identify errors and opportunities for improvement, and provide structured feedback that helps us build safe, reliable, intuitive, and scalable solutions.
The role would be particularly suited to an experienced guided surgery case planner, digital dentistry specialist, or dental CAD/CAM professional who understands implant planning in depth and is interested in helping shape the next generation of AI-supported guided surgery technology.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuided Surgery Case Planning & Testing
- Use Vivo's developing software and digital workflows to plan and process real guided surgery cases.
- Review implant positioning, anatomical structures, prosthetic requirements, guide design, and other relevant planning parameters.
- Compare software-generated and AI-assisted outputs against expected clinical and technical standards.
- Identify planning errors, inconsistencies, workflow problems, and potential risks.
- Correct cases where required and document the reason for each correction.
- Test new features, software releases, integrations, and workflow changes before wider implementation.
- Re-test issues following development updates to confirm that problems have been resolved.
Software & Workflow Development Support
- Work closely with the software development team to provide practical feedback from a case planner's perspective.
- Translate clinical and case-planning requirements into clear feedback that developers can understand and act upon.
- Identify areas where workflows can be simplified, automated, or made more reliable.
- Evaluate AI-generated recommendations and outputs for accuracy, consistency, and clinical relevance.
- Help define expected software behaviour, planning rules, alerts, and quality-control checks.
- Support the development of workflows that reduce manual intervention while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.
Quality Assurance
- Develop repeatable testing processes for guided surgery software and workflows.
- Document software errors, edge cases, unexpected results, and workflow failures in a structured manner.
- Help establish acceptance criteria for new features and releases.
- Maintain records of test cases, findings, corrections, and outcomes.
- Identify recurring patterns in errors and work with the development team to address their root causes.
- Support the creation of a robust quality-control framework for AI-assisted case planning.
Implementation & Continuous Improvement
- Support the transition of successfully tested software and workflows into day-to-day production.
- Help create standard operating procedures and best-practice guidance for case planners.
- Train and support team members as new tools and workflows are introduced.
- Gather feedback from users and convert this into actionable recommendations for future development.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, usability, automation, and scalabilityacross the guided surgery workflow.
Experience & SkillsEssential
- Strong previous experience in guided surgery case planning and/or implant planning.
- Excellent understanding of digital implant dentistry and guided surgery workflows.
- Experience working with CBCT, STL and digital dental datasets.
- Ability to assess implant positioning in relation to anatomy, restorative requirements, and surgical considerations.
- Experience using implant-planning and/or dental CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle errors or inconsistencies.
- Confidence working with new and evolving software.
- Ability to document problems clearly and provide structured, constructive feedback.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and dental teams.
Desirable
- Experience designing surgical guides.
- Experience with dental CAD/CAM workflows.
- Knowledge of software testing, validation, or quality-assurance processes.
- Previous involvement in implementing new digital dentistry workflows.
- Experience working with AI-assisted dental or medical software.
- Understanding of software development processes and bug-reporting systems.
- Experience training or supporting other case planners.

You should naturally question whether a software-generated result is correct, understand why something may have gone wrong, and be able to explain what the correct outcome should have been.
You will be comfortable working with technology that is still evolving. Rather than simply following an established workflow, you will play an active role in testing it, challenging it, improving it, and helping define how it should work.
Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. The purpose of this role is not simply to find software bugs, but to ensure that the technology and workflows Vivo develops can ultimately support consistent, predictable, efficient, and high-quality guided surgery planning at scale.
