The Chequers at Woolsthorpe is an award-winning country dining pub located in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, just 10 minutes from Grantham and 30 minutes from Nottingham.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to lead our bar team and maintain the exceptional standards that have become synonymous with The Chequers. With one of the finest stocked bars you will find in a country pub, we pride ourselves on outstanding presentation, quality products and first-class customer service.
This is an exciting opportunity for a true hospitality professional with a genuine passion for wine, spirits and cocktails. Alongside our busy dining operation, we host a packed calendar of weddings, private events and celebrations throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the bar operation
- Lead, motivate and manage the bar team to deliver exceptional service
- Recruit, train and develop bar staff, ensuring consistently high standards
- Create a positive and professional working environment
- Maintain excellent product knowledge across wines, spirits, beers and cocktails
- Prepare and serve drinks to a consistently high standard
- Manage stock control, ordering, stock takes and supplier relationships
- Monitor GP margins and minimise wastage
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Maintain impeccable bar presentation and cleanliness standards
- Work closely with the management team to deliver successful events, weddings and functions
- Contribute ideas for drinks menus, seasonal offerings and promotions
About You
- Previous experience in a Bar Manager or Senior Bar Supervisor role
- Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits and cocktails
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience training and developing team members
- Excellent organisational and stock management abilities
- Passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Calm under pressure and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and event day
