About the Role
BeyondAutism is seeking an experienced and motivated Programme Lead to join our specialist education team supporting autistic children and young people.
This is a key middle leadership role within our service, responsible for leading the day-to-day running of a classroom and ensuring outstanding learner outcomes through high-quality educational, therapeutic, and behavioural support.
As a Programme Lead, you will work within a collaborative transdisciplinary environment, coordinating teachers, therapists, behaviour analysts, and support staff to deliver safe, consistent, and effective learning experiences tailored to each learner’s needs.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Classroom Management
- Lead the daily running of the classroom and coordinate staff deployment
- Line manage and support classroom staff through coaching, appraisals, probation reviews, and supervision
- Maintain a safe, organised, and positive learning environment
- Ensure programmes are delivered consistently and with fidelity
Learner Outcomes
- Monitor learner progress and identify barriers to achievement
- Oversee Individual Education Plans (IEPs), annual reviews, assessments, and reporting
- Support transitions and learner integration
- Ensure educational, therapeutic, and behavioural strategies are embedded into daily practice
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Person for the class
- Monitor attendance, welfare, and safeguarding concerns
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and risk management procedures
- Uphold learner dignity, independence, and wellbeing at all times
Collaboration
- Work closely with families, Local Authorities, and external professionals
- Lead transdisciplinary meetings and collaborative planning
- Build strong relationships across education, therapy, and behaviour support teams
About You
Essential
- Professional qualification relevant to your discipline (e.g. QTS, HCPC registration, BCBA/UKSBA certification)
- Experience working within autism education or specialist settings
- Experience leading practice and supporting staff development
- Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of EHCPs, IEPs, learner assessments, and review processes
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and risk management
- Confidence managing staff performance, supervision, and coaching
Desirable
- Previous line management experience
- Level 3 Safeguarding training or willingness to complete
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working with parents, Local Authorities, and external agencies
- First aid or safeguarding lead experience
- Experience managing timetables, staff deployment, or class-level budgets

Working Hours
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 4:45pm
(30-minute lunch break)
Occasional evening meetings or events may be required.
