Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Auto Electrician / Diagnostic Technician to join our growing workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic vehicle systems, carrying out advanced fault-finding, coding and programming vehicle control units, and ensuring repairs are completed to the highest professional standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose electrical and electronic faults using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment.
- Carry out repairs to vehicle electrical systems, wiring, sensors, modules, and control units.
- Perform ECU coding, programming, software updates, and module configuration where required.
- Diagnose and repair faults relating to engine management, ABS, airbags, immobilisers, lighting, charging, and starting systems.
- Install and replace electrical components including batteries, alternators, starter motors, wiring looms, and electronic modules.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and technical repair information.
- Carry out vehicle health checks and provide accurate diagnostic reports.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation.
- Keep diagnostic equipment and workshop tools in good working order.
- Comply with Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Support other technicians with complex diagnostic issues when required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, Diagnostic Technician, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience using professional diagnostic tools and fault-finding equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
- Experience carrying out ECU coding, programming, and software updates.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
