Are You Brilliant at Leading Children?
Part-time children’s class leader - Wandsworth
This is not a passive classroom-assistant role.
We need someone who can walk into a room full of children, capture their attention and lead with warmth, energy and confidence.
You might already be a:
- Children’s entertainer or activity leader
- Sports coach
- Teaching assistant
- Drama, dance or performing-arts student
- Holiday-camp or youth-club leader
You do not need martial arts experience. We can teach you our programme. What we cannot teach easily is enthusiasm, dependability and a natural ability to connect with children.
What a typical session involves
You will welcome children, learn their names, demonstrate activities, lead warm-ups, keep the group focused and help create a class children are excited to attend each week.
This is an active role. You will be speaking clearly, demonstrating movements and confidently managing a group, not standing at the side and watching.
You will begin by assisting an experienced instructor. As you demonstrate reliability and ability, you can train to lead complete classes.
When we need you
- Monday: 4:00pm–6:50pm
- Wednesday: 3:30pm–6:50pm
- Saturday: 9:20am–11:50am
You must be able to commit to at least two of these sessions every week
Please do not apply if your timetable changes frequently, you are looking for occasional work or you cannot attend consistently during examination periods.
Our selection process
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to meet us and lead a short, simple activity for a small group. We are looking for energy, communication and rapport with children - not martial arts ability.
The successful applicant will also need to provide suitable references and complete the required safeguarding checks.
Apply
Do not send a generic cover letter.
Instead, answer these questions:
- Which sessions can you commit to every week for the next 12 months?
- When have you led or engaged a group of children?
- What would you do if two children repeatedly ignored your instructions?
Applications without complete answers will not be shortlisted.
