Registered Manager – Solo Children’s Home
Trident Care Group Ltd
Widnes
£52,000–£58,000 per year, depending on experience
Full-time, permanent
One young person. One consistent team. One manager setting the standard.
We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-registered solo children’s home in Widnes.
This is a home for one young person. That allows the manager and staff team to focus fully on providing consistent, individualised care and creating the stability needed for real progress.
We are not looking for someone to simply keep the paperwork moving.
We want a manager who will take ownership of the home, lead the team with confidence and keep the young person at the centre of every decision.
Before you apply
This position is for an experienced Registered Manager.
You must:
- Have previously been registered with Ofsted as the manager of a children’s home
- Have at least two years’ management experience within children’s residential care
- Hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or a recognised equivalent qualification
Please only apply if you meet these essential requirements.
What the role looks like
You will lead the day-to-day running of the home and make sure it remains safe, consistent and focused on the needs of the young person.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and developing the staff team
- Setting and maintaining a positive culture within the home
- Ensuring the young person receives consistent, high-quality care
- Maintaining strong safeguarding and safer-working practices
- Keeping care plans, risk assessments and placement documents current
- Completing staff supervisions and supporting professional development
- Managing rotas and maintaining safe staffing levels
- Overseeing incidents and ensuring appropriate follow-up takes place
- Building effective relationships with social workers, families and other professionals
- Ensuring records, reports and statutory notifications are completed to a high standard
- Completing Regulation 45 quality-of-care reviews
- Responding to Regulation 44 reports and completing required actions
- Preparing the home and staff team for Ofsted inspections
- Supporting recruitment and staff induction
- Participating in the management on-call rota
- Ensuring the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose, the Children’s Homes Regulations and the Quality Standards
What we need from you
Alongside the essential experience and qualifications above, you will need:
- Experience leading, supervising and developing a residential care team
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and safer working practices
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Experience managing incidents and making safeguarding decisions
- Strong written communication and record-keeping skills
- Confidence working with social workers, local authorities and other professionals
- The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive
- A full UK driving licence
- The knowledge, experience and suitability required to register with Ofsted for the home
What you’ll receive
- Salary of £52,000–£58,000, depending on experience
- Discretionary bonus linked to the home’s Ofsted rating and performance throughout the year
- 32 days’ annual leave each year
- An additional day off for your birthday
- Flexible start and finish times, subject to the needs of the home
- Health Shield membership with a range of benefits
- Company pension
- Fully funded training and continued professional development
- Company laptop and mobile phone
- Support from the Responsible Individual and company directors
- The opportunity to influence how the home and wider organisation develop
A genuine opportunity to grow with us
Trident Care Group is growing.
We have submitted a planning application for the required change of use of a second property, which we intend to develop into another children’s home.
As the organisation expands, there may be an opportunity for the successful manager to become dual registered across both homes.
This would be subject to planning permission, successful registration of the second home, the manager’s performance and suitability, the needs of both homes and Ofsted approval.
A formal salary review would take place if dual registration is agreed and approved.
