Key Responsibilities
- Spinal Cord Injury Care: Provide appropriate daily support with mobility, positioning and other care requirements associated with the service user's spinal cord injury.
- Autonomic Dysreflexia Management: Recognise the signs and symptoms of autonomic dysreflexia and respond promptly and appropriately in accordance with the service user's care plan, training and clinical guidance.
- Cough Assist: Provide trained support with cough assist and respiratory care, following the service user's individual care plan and clinical guidance.

- Day-to-Day Activities: Support the service user with daily living activities and encourage independence wherever possible, including appropriate assistance with eating, drinking and household activities.
- Hospital Appointments: Accompany and support the service user at hospital and healthcare appointments when required, including providing appropriate care during travel and appointments.
- Team Working: Work effectively alongside fellow Healthcare Assistants and other health and care professionals to provide consistent, safe and high-quality care.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely and professional care records, including observations and any required monitoring, and promptly report changes or concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including episodes of autonomic dysreflexia and other health-related concerns, in line with training, the care plan and KASE Care procedures.
Requirements

- Qualifications: Relevant healthcare qualifications or training, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, are desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to accurately document care and clearly report observations or concerns.
- Female Applicants: Due to the personal care requirements and specific needs of the service user, this position is open to female applicants only, where permitted as an occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively and professionally as part of a double-up care team.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is preferred but is not essential.
- DBS: An Enhanced DBS check is required, or applicants must be willing to undergo the appropriate check.
- Flexibility: Applicants should have flexibility regarding their availability. The final rota is still being confirmed and may include day, night and weekend shifts.
