Nursery Manager – Orton Southgate
Location: Orton Southgate, Peterborough
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Not every Nursery Manager opportunity is about going into a setting that needs fixing.
We’re working with an established Early Years provider looking for a strong and experienced Nursery Manager to take the lead at a successful nursery in Orton Southgate, Peterborough.
The nursery is already in a positive position, with good staff morale, a strong team and high standards of care and education. They’re now looking for an experienced leader who can build on those foundations, maintain quality and ensure the nursery continues to perform at its best.
This would suit someone who is confident in their own leadership ability but also values being part of a wider organisation where senior support and oversight are available when needed.
The Opportunity
As Nursery Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the nursery, creating an environment where children receive exceptional care and staff feel supported, motivated and valued.
A key focus will be maintaining the quality already within the setting, so strong knowledge of Ofsted expectations, EYFS and safeguarding will be particularly important.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead a capable team, continue developing the nursery and ensure standards remain consistently high as the setting moves forward.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the day-to-day running of the nursery and maintaining high standards across the setting
- Supporting, motivating and developing an established team
- Maintaining positive staff morale and a strong team culture
- Ensuring continued compliance with Ofsted, EYFS and safeguarding requirements
- Preparing for and confidently managing Ofsted inspections
- Monitoring the quality of teaching, learning and care throughout the nursery
- Managing staffing, budgets, resources and operational requirements
- Building strong relationships with children, families and the wider community
- Working closely with senior leadership and making use of the wider support available
- Identifying opportunities to continually strengthen and develop the nursery
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Early Years leader who can confidently take ownership of a successful setting while maintaining the standards already in place.
You’ll ideally have:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years
- At least 2 years’ experience in a senior Early Years leadership role
- Strong Nursery Manager or senior management experience
- Good Ofsted experience and a clear understanding of what is required to maintain high standards
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Early Years regulations
- Strong people-management and leadership skills
- The ability to motivate, support and retain a positive team
- A confident, organised and approachable leadership style
- A genuine commitment to maintaining high-quality childcare and education
