The Role of the Cover Supervisor
To supervise classes in the absence of the timetabled teacher so that pupils can continue to receive teaching and learning to the standards of The Academy, Selsey. When not required to cover lessons you will be expected to provide dedicated administrative support for specific departments, TA and invigilate for exams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:

To provide classroom cover for absent teachers as requested by allocation from the Cover Coordinator

To manage and supervise classes of students and to present the work set by the absent teacher in order to enable students to continue to learn effectively

To maintain good discipline of classes in your care and to implement the school’s Behaviour Policy where necessary

To provide objective and accurate feedback to the returning teacher on the conduct of the lesson and to keep appropriate records as necessary

To undertake Break Duties up to a maximum of 2 duties a week

To take Tutor Groups in the absence of their Tutor and to attend assemblies and facilitate other tutor-based activities where appropriate

Where classroom cover is not required to undertake activities at the direction of the Headteacher or other designated member of staff

To undertake the invigilation of examinations where necessary

To promote and safeguard the welfare of students. Feeding back to appropriate colleagues any concerns regarding students.
What We’re Looking For:

An ability to communicate effectively with younger people, as well as deal with their basic emotional and practical needs;

Having some knowledge or training in child development and learning;

Being enthusiastic, dedicated and helpful;

Experience in classroom management in the absence of a teacher

Proficient use of ICT
