Installer Assistant – Domestic & Commercial Appliances / Laundry / TV & AV
Location: Redhill, Surrey RH1 3DR – based from our Distribution Centre
Salary: £26,436 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday with a day off during the week
Typical Hours: 07:30–16:30 with one hour for lunch
About the Role
Forbes is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Installer Assistant to join our installation team based at our Redhill Distribution Centre.
Working alongside one of our experienced installers/engineers as part of a two-person team, you will help deliver, install and demonstrate a wide range of appliances, commercial laundry equipment, TVs and AV products for both our domestic and commercial customers.
This is a non-driving position, so a driving licence is not essential, although having a full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
The role is varied. One day you could be assisting with the installation of a washing machine or Smart TV in a customer's home, and the next working on a larger commercial installation at a care home, hotel, housing association, student accommodation or other commercial premises.
Our commercial work takes place across the UK and there will occasionally be a requirement to work away from home, including overnight stays.
Forbes Professional is a national supplier and service provider of commercial laundry equipment, supplying professional washing machines and tumble dryers to customers including hotels, care homes, housing providers and other organisations throughout the UK.
As an Installer Assistant, you will work alongside our experienced engineers installing and positioning professional laundry equipment. This can include assisting with deliveries, removing existing equipment, positioning new machines and helping engineers complete installations safely and professionally.
Full training will be provided, and the role provides an opportunity to develop your knowledge of commercial laundry equipment and installations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Working alongside an experienced installer/engineer as part of a two-person team
- Delivering and installing appliances in customers' homes
- Assisting with commercial installations at care homes, hotels, housing associations and other business premises
- Assisting with the installation and positioning of commercial washing machines and tumble dryers

- Setting up Smart TVs, including connecting them to customers' internet services
- Providing customers with basic demonstrations of their new equipment
- Safely loading and unloading the installation vehicle
- Moving and positioning appliances and equipment safely
- Removing existing appliances and equipment where required
- Protecting customers' property and leaving installation areas clean and tidy
- Following company Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Assisting with warehouse, stock and despatch duties when required
- Travelling with our installation teams throughout the region and occasionally across the UK
What We're Looking For
Previous installation experience would be helpful, but is not essential. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
You should:
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- Enjoy practical, hands-on work
- Be physically capable of assisting with the safe movement of appliances and commercial equipment
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Be friendly, polite and professional with customers
- Take pride in delivering excellent customer service
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be willing to learn new practical and technical skills
- Have good communication skills
- Be able to use your initiative and deal calmly with unexpected situations
- Be flexible regarding finishing times and occasional overnight stays
A driving licence is not required for this role, although it would be advantageous.
Working Hours
The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, with a day off during the week.
Normal working hours are 07:30 to 16:30 with one hour for lunch.
As this is a field-based installation role, travelling distances, traffic and individual installations can occasionally mean that the working day runs beyond the normal finishing time. We therefore require a reasonable degree of flexibility around finishing times.
Occasional Sunday working or overnight stays may also be required for specific commercial projects.
