KNTC is seeking experienced and self-sufficient two-person poling crews for an exciting upcoming telecommunications contract covering the Home Counties and South West England.
This field-based contract opportunity will involve the installation, replacement and maintenance of telecommunications poles and associated overhead infrastructure across fibre and copper networks.
Crews must be experienced, productive and able to complete work safely and to the required Openreach and KNTC standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, replace and safely remove telecommunications poles
- Prepare pole locations, excavate pole holes and complete reinstatement
- Operate and support Pole Erection Units and HIAB lifting equipment
- Carry out pole dressing and install associated overhead equipment
- Work safely at height using approved climbing and fall-protection equipment
- Inspect poles, fittings and equipment before and after installation
- Complete site-specific risk assessments and follow approved RAMS
- Maintain compliant signing, lighting and guarding around work areas
- Accurately record completed work, photographs, hazards and any changes from the job pack
- Work closely with KNTC supervisors, planners and field engineers
- Maintain a professional approach when dealing with clients and members of the public
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience completing poling and overhead work on the Openreach network
- Current and relevant Openreach, PIA and Smart Awards accreditations for the work being undertaken
- An HGV Class 2 licence holder with a valid Driver CPC in each crew, to operate the Pole Erection Unit
- At least one operative in each crew holding NRSWA accreditation at Operative level, including CAT and Genny training
- Full UK driving licences
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, working at height and safe systems of work
- Ability to understand job packs, risk assessments, utility drawings and work instructions
- Thorough understanding of PPE requirements, exclusion zones and site-specific safety controls
- Ability to work as a reliable and self-sufficient two-person crew
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- NPORS or another recognised Lorry Loader/HIAB qualification
- IPAF 1B or equivalent MEWP accreditation
- Additional overhead, rigging or pole-climbing accreditations
- Experience working across fibre, copper and PIA delivery programmes
