What we are looking for:
- 3-5 years practice experience.
- AAT Qualified and now studying ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
- Keen to develop technical knowledge and embrace new technology (including AI tools).
- To act with due care and attention and ensure confidentiality is always applied.
- Experience with AI systems, Xero, QuickBooks and TaxCalc is desirable.
- You must be professional, proactive, have a positive mindset, be loyal, innovative, empathetic, and an excellent communicator
What you’ll be doing:
Accounts and Tax Preparation
- Preparing online accounting working papers in accordance with our Practice Framework and Accounting Standards and that all lead schedules agree to the accounts provided for review.
- Undertake an analytical review of the balance sheet and profit and loss account to ensure the figures appear sensible and provide notes for the Senior to help them review the file more efficiently.
- Prepare draft annual accounts for all types of trades including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Prepare draft tax computations for review by the Senior.
- Knowledge of MTD ITSA would be beneficial.
Technical Knowledge
- Undertake the training requirements of the Practice to develop and progress your knowledge and skills.
- Integrate successfully with the team and provide effective support for other team members.
- Provide support for the more complex elements of the job which are likely to include VAT, PAYE, CIS.
- Knowledge of the current reporting legislation in respect of the accounting standards and to prepare disclosure checklists to ensure compliance. (FRS105 and FRS102(1a) desirable)
Client Communication and Workflow
- Prepare written communication to send to or verbally communicate with our clients to obtain information to complete the accounts preparation process and to deal with any queries raised.
- Meet the deadlines that are set by the Director in terms of the budget allocated to the assignment and being aware of any statutory deadlines that may be in force.
- Communicate regularly with the Director and update workflow management systems to show progress of work that has been allocated.
- Plus any additional tasks that support the smooth running of the practice.
