About the role
We are looking for a Domestic Assistant / Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team and help create a clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents.
This is an important role within our nursing home. The quality of the environment and the support you provide has a direct impact on residents’ comfort, dignity, wellbeing and experience of home.
You will work across domestic and kitchen duties, taking pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation while supporting the smooth running of the home.
You will follow established routines and procedures, while remaining responsive to the individual needs of our residents and the changing priorities of the home.
What success looks like
In this role, your success will be measured by the outcomes you achieve:
- Residents experience a clean, comfortable and homely environment – bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas and other parts of the home are consistently maintained to the required standard.
- High standards of hygiene are maintained – cleaning, infection prevention, food hygiene and Health & Safety procedures are followed consistently.
- Meals and refreshments are prepared and served safely – kitchen duties are completed efficiently, food is handled appropriately and residents receive meals and drinks in a clean and welcoming environment.
- Residents feel respected and valued – you are warm, friendly, polite and considerate in every interaction, respecting residents’ privacy, dignity and personal preferences.
- The kitchen and domestic areas are well organised – equipment, supplies and work areas are kept clean, safe and ready for use.
- Problems are identified and reported promptly – hazards, maintenance issues, damaged equipment, shortages or other concerns are reported without delay.
- The team works effectively together – you communicate well, follow instructions and support colleagues when priorities change.
- The home maintains a welcoming atmosphere – your work contributes to residents feeling comfortable, safe, respected and proud of their surroundings.
About you

Previous experience in a domestic, housekeeping, cleaning, kitchen, catering, hotel, care or healthcare environment would be beneficial. However, we are equally interested in people who have the right attitude, work ethic and commitment to providing a high standard of service.
