We are looking for an organised, creative and proactive Marketing & Events Assistant to support the marketing of our growing programme of comic conventions and events across the UK.
The role will initially focus on our Unleashed Events brand, helping to ensure that multiple upcoming events receive consistent marketing attention throughout the week. As you become established in the role, there will be opportunities to become involved with marketing for Rising Phoenix Games and other projects within our wider group of businesses.
This is a varied role where you may be working on several different events at the same time. We are therefore looking for somebody who is comfortable managing multiple deadlines, switching between projects and identifying what needs attention without requiring constant supervision.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating, writing and scheduling engaging content across Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms
- Producing graphics and marketing materials using Canva
- Managing and scheduling content through Meta Business Suite
- Maintaining marketing plans and content schedules across multiple upcoming events
- Keeping track of marketing tasks, deadlines and outstanding information using Trello or similar organisational software
- Writing clear, professional and engaging public-facing copy
- Writing and distributing press releases for upcoming events
- Identifying and building relationships with local newspapers, radio stations, magazines, websites and other media outlets in the areas where our events take place
- Contacting local media to secure event coverage, interviews, features and promotional opportunities
- Providing journalists and media partners with event information, images and other materials when required
- Promoting event guests, attractions, traders, activities, competitions and announcements
- Updating Facebook Events, websites, local event listings and community platforms
- Identifying relevant local Facebook groups, community organisations and other opportunities to promote individual events
- Supporting outreach to content creators, influencers, businesses, clubs and organisations relevant to each event
- Monitoring website and marketing performance using tools such as Google Analytics
- Helping review the performance of social media content and marketing campaigns
- Supporting LinkedIn content and business-to-business communication where appropriate
- Gathering photos, video and information for future marketing content
- Occasionally visiting events, venues, partner organisations or our store to gather content or information
We are particularly looking for somebody with excellent written English. Strong spelling, grammar and attention to detail are essential, as you will regularly be producing public-facing content and communicating with businesses, media organisations and event partners.
You should be able to communicate in a friendly and engaging way while maintaining a professional standard of written communication appropriate to the audience.
Experience with Canva and Meta Business Suite is essential. Experience with Trello or similar project-management tools, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, basic photography, video editing or short-form video content would also be beneficial.
The successful candidate will need excellent organisation and time-management skills. With several events taking place in different areas of the country, you should be able to keep track of multiple projects and recognise when an event needs additional marketing attention, content or information.
The role will initially be based at Rising Phoenix Games in Middlesbrough while you learn our events, businesses and working processes. Once established and comfortable working independently, the role can become predominantly remote. Occasional travel to our store, events, venues or partner locations may still be required.
We are looking for somebody who can start relatively quickly and who is confident learning a fast-moving business and becoming an active part of its marketing rather than simply waiting to be given individual tasks.
Pay: £13.50 per hour
Benefits:
- Discounted or free food
- Work from home
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Middlesbrough TS1 4AF
