Our client is recruiting for a Field Engineer Apprentice to join their team in Chelmsford.

This is a hands-on apprenticeship designed for individuals with a passion for IT, telecoms, and technology, offering real-world experience alongside structured learning. You will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to network infrastructure, installations, and fault resolution across customer sites.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Field Engineer Apprentice, you will:
- Support engineers with the installation and maintenance of telecoms and network equipment
- Assist with site surveys, cabling, and equipment setup
- Learn how to identify and troubleshoot network faults and connectivity issues
- Shadow engineers on customer visits across Essex
- Gain experience working within public sector environments (e.g. councils, schools, healthcare settings)
- Support with documentation, updates, and system records
- Develop an understanding of health & safety and compliance standards in the field
Apprenticeship Structure
Your working week will typically include:
- Day 1: Structured learning with apprenticeship provider
- Days 2–3: Field-based learning alongside experienced engineers
- Day 4: On-site training and development (Essex office)
- Day 5: Additional learning, admin tasks, or project exposure
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate about IT, telecoms, or technology
- Reliable, professional, and keen to learn
- Confident communicators with a positive, engaging personality
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in different locations across Essex
Essential Requirements
- Age 21+ (due to driving licence requirements)
- Full UK driving licence
- Based in or able to commute to Essex (Chelmsford area)
- Basic understanding of IT (e.g., networks, hardware, or systems)
