About The Cart Shed Catering 2020
The Cart Shed Catering 2020 Ltd is a Beverley-born outside catering company delivering weddings and events throughout East Yorkshire.
Our menus range from formal wedding dining and sharing boards to BBQs, hog roasts, stone-baked pizzas, burgers and loaded fries.
No two events are exactly the same, which means our team needs to be adaptable, organised and able to maintain excellent standards in different venues and environments.
The Role
We are looking to strengthen our event team with experienced, confident and reliable hospitality professionals who understand what excellent service looks like and take pride in delivering it.
This isn't simply a food-serving role. Our team represents The Cart Shed Catering at some of the most important occasions in our clients' lives. We therefore need people who are professional, switched-on, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility within a busy event environment.
You may currently work, or have previously worked, within a wedding venue, hotel, restaurant, events company, outside catering business, bar or other customer-facing hospitality environment.
As an experienced member of our event team, you will help ensure our weddings and events are delivered professionally, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing professional and friendly food and beverage service
- Greeting and communicating confidently with clients and guests
- Table service and clearing
- Serving wedding breakfasts, sharing dishes, buffets and street food
- Supporting drinks and beverage service where required
- Setting and preparing tables to event standards
- Polishing and preparing cutlery, crockery and service equipment
- Loading and unloading catering equipment
- Setting up and packing down catering areas
- Restocking food service and event stations
- Communicating effectively with chefs, coordinators and other event staff
- Understanding event timings and responding quickly when requirements change
- Following food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Identifying what needs doing without always waiting to be asked
- Supporting other members of the team during busy service periods
- Maintaining excellent presentation and service standards throughout an event
Who We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience within hospitality, catering, weddings, events, restaurants, hotels or a similar customer-facing environment
- Confident and professional communication skills
- Excellent customer service
- A mature and responsible approach to work
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced event environment
- Able to use initiative and solve straightforward problems independently
- Strong team-working skills
- High standards of personal presentation
- An understanding of food hygiene and allergen awareness
- Comfortable with physical work, including spending long periods on your feet and moving catering equipment
- Availability for evening and weekend work, particularly Saturdays
- Full UK driving licence and reliable access to transport
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Strong written and spoken English
Particularly Desirable
We would be especially interested in candidates who have experience in:
- Wedding or event catering
- Wedding venues
- Restaurants or hotels
- Table service
- Banqueting
- Outside catering
- Supervising or supporting junior hospitality staff
- Food safety and allergen procedures
Hours
This is a casual, event-based position, so there is no fixed weekly shift pattern.
Our busiest periods are generally weekends and wedding season, and shifts can include daytime, evening and late finishes.
Applicants therefore need genuine flexibility and should be comfortable working longer event shifts when required.
This role may work particularly well for an experienced hospitality professional looking for additional flexible work alongside another position or existing commitments.
Our Standards
Weddings and special events don't offer a second chance to get things right.
We expect every member of our team to arrive on time, appropriately presented, fully briefed and ready to work.
You will receive training in The Cart Shed Catering's procedures and standards, but we are looking for people who already understand the fundamentals of excellent hospitality.
Uniform and apron are provided, and all team members are expected to follow our uniform, grooming, food hygiene and health & safety requirements.

If you're an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys events, works well under pressure and takes genuine pride in providing excellent service, we'd love to hear from you.
