Bayleaf care is expanding by opening 2 new children’s homes in September. A combination of needing staff for our new home, internal promotions and internal transfers, it has created several vacancies across the group.
Senior Residential Support Worker
We are looking for 3 full-time, permanent senior residential support workers for Bayleaf’s newest 2-bedded children’s home in Alrewas, near Lichfield that looks after young people with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.
Based on the excellent work we have been doing in our other children’s homes, this children’s home is being pushed by the local authority to open earlier than planned, which is by September 2026 and will be the 8th edition to Bayleaf Care children’s homes.
The salary is £17.31p - £18.27p per hour with the option of overtime in the other children’s homes.
The home is situated 6 miles from Lichfield, 9 miles from Tamworth, 8 miles from Burton, 13 miles from Sutton Coldfield and 16 miles from both Stafford and Walsall
About the home:
This special property has been beautifully renovated, and although it has 4 bedrooms, it is designed to only offer 2 young people a home so they can be in a peaceful and spacious environment, a place where they have a sense of belonging and call their own.
Alrewas is a charming and historic village in Staffordshire, England, situated along the River Trent and the Trent and Mersey Canal which have walks. Located just north of Lichfield, it is globally renowned for housing the National Memorial Arboretum
About Bayleaf Care

In September 2026 we are also opening 2 special schools, one will be an SEMH school and the other a learning disability school
Each children’s home has their own permanent on-site therapist and a pool car.
Job overview:
The role of a senior residential support worker is lead the team of residential workers on shift by offering support and guidance. To provide 24-hour care and support to the young people in our care. This is a residential children’s home so there are practical duties such as general cooking and cleaning but there are also lots of fun things to do, engaging the young people with activities both inside and outside of the home.
A caring and supportive attitude is essential for this role, and we welcome people that have experience with children with autism and associated behaviours that challenge.
The salary is £17.31p - £18.27p per hour depending on experience. Sleep-ins are paid at £55
Total salary is between £39,835 to £41,678 plus the opportunity to do overtime at any of the other children’s homes and in the schools.
While on shift, there is also the opportunity to earn an extra £50 per day, by supporting the young people (as a teaching assistant) while they are in school…. full training will be given.
There are waking night staff, but the seniors will be expected to sleep-in every shift, approximately 10 times per month.
The shift pattern is 1 day on 2 days off
Shifts start at 7am to 11pm, sleep-ins are 11pm to 7am, finish 7.30am after handover.
It is an OFSTED requirement that candidates have either the level 3 or 4 in children’s residential qualification or working towards it.
There is a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, fantastic career prospects as the company continues to grow.
Car drivers are essential because of the rural location of the home.
