About the Role
Due to continued growth, AIC Group is seeking an experienced Stock and Yard Operative to join its manufacturing facility in 113 Milltown Road, Armagh. This full-time role involves managing stock and incoming materials, supporting production, and maintaining safe, clean and organised yard, storage and vehicle areas. The ideal candidate will be practical, proactive and organised, with at least two years’ relevant experience and a full UK driving licence.
AIC Group designs and manufactures advanced Thermal Treatment and Waste to Energy systems, including loading systems, combustion chambers, ductwork, induced draft fans, Pollution Control Systems, steel support structures, heat exchangers and associated process plant.
The position has two equally important areas of responsibility:
1. Maintaining accurate stock control and coordinating materials across the facility.
2. Maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised facility including waste areas, company vehicles, equipment, packing areas and external storage.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am–3:15pm
- Overtime when applicable
Key Tasks and Duties
Stock Control
- Receive, inspect and record incoming materials and components using the company’s internal ERP software.
- Maintain accurate digital and physical stock records, including labelling and identification of inventory items.
- Carry out regular stock counts and investigate or reconcile discrepancies.
- Check incoming materials for the correct quality, quantity and specification, reporting any damaged, incorrect or non-conforming items.
- Load, unload, stack and safely move materials to their designated storage, production or dispatch areas.
- Prepare material kits and replenish assembly and subassembly lines in accordance with production requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries, collections and stock movements with relevant departments.
- Collect materials and orders from local suppliers when required.
- Load and unload vehicles with products for delivery and incoming supplier materials.
Yard, Vehicle and Waste Control
- Maintain clean, safe and organised yard, storage area, packing area, loading area and manufacturing / assembly areas.
- Ensure materials, equipment, pallets and completed products are stored securely in their designated locations.
- Monitor waste and recycling areas, ensuring bins are used correctly, waste is appropriately segregated and collections are arranged when required.
- Monitor the condition and cleanliness of all company vehicles and lifting equipment.
- Carry out basic vehicle upkeep, including washing vehicles and checking tyres, lights, fluid levels and general condition where appropriate.
- Report vehicle, equipment, storage or yard-related defects and hazards promptly via inhouse company ERP system.
Health and Safety
- Carry out applicable daily, weekly and monthly visual and safety checks on stock-handling equipment, yard equipment and storage areas.
- Identify and address hazards such as unsafe storage, trip hazards, blocked routes or incorrectly positioned materials.
- Complete manual handling tasks safely and in accordance with company procedures and training.
- Record and report defects, hazards, damage or maintenance requirements through the company’s internal systems.
- Follow all company policies relating to health and safety, environmental control, quality and productivity.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years’ experience in stock control, inventory management, warehouse operations, yard operations or a similar practical role.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate digital and physical stock records.
- Ability to complete manual handling duties safely.
- Practical approach to housekeeping, vehicle upkeep and yard maintenance.
- Ability to identify and address safety, storage and organisational issues.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with several departments.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
- Legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom.
Desirable
- Valid forklift licence.
- Previous manual handling training.
- HGV licence.
- Experience preparing commercial vehicles for MOT inspections or scheduled servicing.
- Experience coordinating waste collection or waste segregation.
- Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse or transport environment.
