Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to young men with autism and learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort and dignity while promoting independence. This role requires effective communication skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to follow care plans accurately. Experience in working with autistic individuals is essential and also understanding behaviours that may challenge.
Duties
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients in daily living activities, including meal preparation and medication reminders.
- Drive and support clients to appointments or social activities as needed, ensuring their safety throughout.
- Drive clients to day provision where they receive education and then remain and support while clients are there
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and assist in updating care plans as required.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
Experience
- Previous experience of autism and learning disabilities is essential
- Familiarity with developing and implementing behaviour plans is advantageous.
- Proficiency in English is required for effective communication with clients and team members
- Full clean driving license
- Training in crisis prevention will be given, however previous experience in managing behaviours that challenge is essential
