Bibby Commercials is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Mobile HGV Technician to join our team.
Operating from a fully equipped Mobile Service Unit, you will travel to customer locations to provide servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for HGVs and trailers. You will play a key role in keeping our customers’ vehicles safe, compliant and operational while representing the business professionally at every site you attend.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial vehicle technician who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems and delivering a high standard of customer service.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on HGVs and trailers at customer locations.
· Completing preventative maintenance to help maximise vehicle availability and uptime.
· Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
· Attending breakdowns and completing roadside or site-based repairs where appropriate.
· Preparing vehicles and trailers for DVSA annual testing.
· Ensuring vehicles remain compliant with applicable roadworthiness requirements.
· Providing customers with clear updates on repairs, defects and recommended corrective work.
· Completing service sheets, inspection reports, defect reports and maintenance records accurately using company systems and mobile technology.
· Working in accordance with DVSA requirements, manufacturer specifications, company procedures and health and safety standards.
· Maintaining the tools, equipment and stock held within your Mobile Service Unit.
· Keeping your Mobile Service Unit clean, organised and operational.
What We’re Looking For
You will need:
· Previous experience in HGV, trailer or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
· Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
· A good understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, vehicle electrics and pneumatic systems.
· A full UK driving licence.
· The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Strong organisation and practical problem-solving abilities.
· A commitment to quality workmanship and safe working practices.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
It would be advantageous if you also hold or have:
· NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent qualification.
· An HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 driving licence.
· Trailer maintenance experience.
· Previous experience working within a mobile service environment.
· Manufacturer-specific training or accreditation.
