We're working with a growing specialist roofing and waterproofing contractor who continue to secure major projects across the South of England. Due to the award of a significant new roofing refurbishment project in Exeter, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Roofing Project Manager to take ownership of the delivery from site mobilisation through to completion.
The role is offered on a permanent basis; however, the client is also open to considering experienced freelance Project Managers where the right individual can demonstrate the technical expertise and project delivery capability required.

Our client is a specialist roofing and waterproofing contractor delivering high-quality flat roofing and building envelope projects across the commercial, education and public sectors.
Operating nationally, they have built an excellent reputation for delivering technically demanding roofing packages, working with many of the UK's leading main contractors and manufacturers. Their expertise spans waterproofing, flat roofing, roof finishes and associated roofing works on projects ranging from £100k through to £5m.
The Role
You'll take full responsibility for delivering a major flat roofing package, managing the project from site set-up through to successful completion in late 2027.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you'll lead all day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on Project Management role requiring someone who is equally comfortable leading site teams, managing client relationships and maintaining commercial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
- Take full operational responsibility for the successful delivery of the roofing project
- Manage directly employed operatives and specialist subcontractors
- Develop and manage project programmes, ensuring works remain on schedule
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants and wider project team
- Order and coordinate materials, plant and equipment to meet programme requirements
- Monitor labour, productivity and site performance throughout the project
- Identify, record and communicate project variations in accordance with contractual procedures
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards
- Produce weekly progress reports, programme updates and marked-up roof plans
- Maintain excellent health, safety and environmental standards across the project
- Attend site progress meetings and report regularly to senior management on programme, commercial matters and project performance
- Take ownership of both the operational and commercial delivery of the project throughout its duration.
The Ideal Candidate
We're keen to speak with experienced Roofing Project Managers who can confidently manage complex flat roofing projects from start to finish.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience delivering flat roofing and waterproofing projects
- Previous Project Manager or Senior Site Manager experience within roofing or building envelope contracting
- Strong commercial awareness and programme management skills
- Excellent leadership and client relationship management abilities
- Experience managing subcontractors and directly employed site teams
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- CSCS Card (Supervisor or Manager level)
Experience working with proprietary flat roofing systems would be highly advantageous.
