About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Tandoori Chef to join our busy kitchen team in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will have experience preparing and cooking authentic Indian tandoori dishes and be able to maintain high standards of food quality, taste and presentation in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of tandoori and grilled dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Prepare and marinate chicken, lamb, fish, prawns and other ingredients using traditional spices and marinades.
- Operate and maintain the tandoor oven safely and efficiently.
- Prepare tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, seekh kebabs, lamb tikka, fish tikka, naan and other tandoori dishes.
- Prepare marinades, sauces, chutneys and spice mixes according to recipes.
- Ensure food is cooked safely and presented to a high standard.
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality and portion sizes.
- Prepare ingredients and mise en place before service.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Clean and maintain the tandoor, cooking equipment and work areas.
- Monitor stock levels and minimise food waste.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Work closely with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Follow all company food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Tandoori Chef is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of tandoori cooking methods, Indian spices and marinades.
- Experience operating a traditional tandoor oven.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time-management and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week over 6 days
- Weekend availability required
- Start date: ASAP
