This is an exciting opportunity to join our Hospice as a Guest Services Manager. The Guest Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all non-clinical hospitality services within the hospice, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. This includes leadership of catering, housekeeping, laundry, and coffee shop operations, as well as coordination and management of kitchen and service volunteers.
You will need to act as a role model, demonstrate the highest professional standards of conduct and behaviour, inspire others and encourage best practice to support the safe, caring, effective, responsive and well lead operation of clinical services within St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
You will need to possess a Hotel services and management qualification, Food hygiene certificate, NCQ level 3 in catering and or hospitality,
Have experience of managing a commercial catering and housekeeping team.· Menu planning and ordering provisions within an agreed budget.· Strong sense of cost control. Catering / supervising for large numbers for functions
Be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge·
Supervisory management skills. Effective verbal communication skills.· Knowledge of planning duty rotas and allocating work to others. Standards of hygiene and cleanliness consistent with an outstanding organisation. · Providing nutritious, well presented meals of good quality to meet clients needs.· Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain good humour. Hard working and highly motivated· Ability to work without direct supervision· Good organisational skills.
You will also be able to act on own initiative as well as a team member. Have a positive and friendly approach to staff, volunteers, patients, and their families, as well as have the ability to keep information confidential, including patient details. You will need excellent communication skills with the ability to put people at their ease and be able to form good working relationships with other staff and volunteers. Be approachable and have good motivational skills.
