Overview
We are seeking a part time Early Years Practitioner, ideally qualified to Level 2 or 3, who is passionate about the impact of quality early years provision. The successful candidate must be willing to be flexible and work in a small team to create big impact. The role involves working closely with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure high standards of care and education. The role is in a small playschool in the beautiful village of Singleton, near Chichester. We are a term time only setting and looking for a practitioner who is available to work part time and/or bank cover between the hours of 8.00am -3.30pm.
We are looking for an individual who loves playing, being outdoors in the stunning South Downs, enjoys supporting children to learn through nature and play and work closely within a small team.

Duties
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging activities that promote children's learning and development in accordance with early years frameworks.
- Supervise children during play, meals, and rest periods, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social skills.
- Support children's emotional well-being by providing reassurance and guidance during their daily routines.
- Collaborate with colleagues to organise activities, outings, and special events that enhance the children's educational experience.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns.
- Manage behaviour positively, using appropriate strategies to promote good conduct and social interaction.
- Demonstrate leadership by mentoring new staff or interns as required, ensuring team cohesion and professional development.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children within nursery or early years settings.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development stages, and childcare regulations.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent are highly desirable. Working towards Level 3 considered.
- A caring attitude with patience, organisation skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare in accordance with statutory guidelines.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
