AH178: Part-time Nanny, South Kensington
Overview
A busy young family in South Kensington, London is seeking a proactive, discreet Nanny to care for their young son (born November 2025). You will work alongside another Nanny who covers Monday–Wednesday but who, is happy to also cover just Monday and Tuesday. The parent works from home and is very involved day-to-day, so they are looking for a genuine team player who can collaborate seamlessly while also being confident taking sole charge when needed.

Working hours
- Days per week: 2–3 days (days to be agreed)
- Thursday: 9:30am–7:30pm
- Friday: 9:30am–7:30pm (flexibility required on Fridays to cover occasional evenings / later finishes)
- Weekend (preferred): 1 weekend day (Sat or Sun) every 4–6 weeks
Core responsibilities
Childcare & development
- Manage the child’s day-to-day routine (feeding, sleep, hygiene) and support age-appropriate structure.
- Support developmental milestones with engaging, hands-on activities (sensory play, cooking sessions, educational outings, playdates, etc.).
- Encourage a calm, confident and nurturing environment, aligning with the family’s approach.
Child-related housekeeping
- Keep the child’s play areas and bedroom tidy and organised.
- Manage the child’s laundry.
- Keep nursery supplies well-stocked and ensure everything is ready for the next day.
Travel support
- Pack and unpack for all travel and manage all child-related logistics.
- Occasional UK and international travel. When travelling with the family, the Nanny will work 5 days per week.
- The family spends 6 - 8 weeks each summer at their home in Italy. During this period, the parents will be working, so the nanny will be required to travel with the family for approximately 4 - 5 weeks. The remaining time will be taken as annual leave.
Team support
- Work collaboratively with the other Nanny and the parent.
- As part of being a team player, provide occasional light household support around the child (e.g., loading/unloading the dishwasher, helping with occasional returns), while keeping childcare as the priority.
Ideal candidate
- Intuitive & discreet: able to “read the room” and know when to step in or step back.
- Proactive: consistently ahead of tasks, anticipating needs before they arise.
- Language: Italian speaker would be a bonus (not essential) to support the family’s international ties.
- Skills: confident swimmer; confident driver, comfortable in both the UK and Europe.
- Lifestyle fit: ideally someone who enjoys being outside of London as well as in the city (e.g., country/coastal life) — not purely a “city person”.
- Professionalism: high initiative and commitment to a long-term placement.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Visa-free passport for European travel.
- Open to working in warm climates (the family have air conditioning at home, but comfort with heat / summer travel is helpful).
- Bonus: ties to Italy (e.g., Sardinia) / familiarity with the region is a plus.
