Overview
Ferdinand Collective, founded by Anton & Rio Ferdinand, is a growing youth football organisation focused on creating strong development pathways, professional opportunities and genuine progression for talented young players.
We are looking for an ambitious and driven Development Phase Lead Coach to work with our U13 / U16 Junior Premier League programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for a coach who enjoys working in a competitive player development environment and wants to become part of an expanding organisation with links into professional academies and elite football pathways.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering high-quality training, leading the team on JPL matchdays and supporting the technical, tactical, physical and psychological development of players.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and lead high-quality Development Phase training sessions
- Deliver sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with JPL matchday management on Saturdays
- Create structured weekly training programmes aligned with the Ferdinand Collective coaching philosophy
- Develop players technically and tactically while building their understanding of the game
- Create clear game plans and manage team performance and in-game decisions on matchdays
- Monitor individual player development and provide regular, constructive feedback
- Create a professional, positive, disciplined and competitive environment for players
- Work closely with other Ferdinand Collective coaches, scouts, academy contacts and senior management
- Support player assessments, squad planning, recruitment and talent identification
- Help organise and support friendly fixtures, tournaments and showcase opportunities
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, player welfare, equipment management and health and safety
- Represent Ferdinand Collective professionally at training, fixtures and external events
Requirements
We are looking for somebody with:
- Previous experience coaching or managing within academy, JPL, grassroots or higher-level youth football
- UEFA C / FA Level 2 qualification preferred Desirable UEFA B) Not essential
- The ability to plan and deliver high-quality sessions appropriate for Development Phase players
- A strong understanding of individual player development alongside team development
- Good tactical knowledge and the ability to communicate football concepts effectively to young players
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, challenge and inspire players
- Excellent communication with players, parents, coaches and senior staff
- Strong organisation around training, squad management and matchdays
- A genuine passion for youth development and creating pathways for talented players
- Availability for Tuesday and Thursday evening training and Saturday JPL fixtures
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and player welfare
Outstanding candidates with significant coaching experience will also be considered where qualifications are still being developed.
