About Kingspan Group
We are seeking a curious and motivated Digital and AI Apprentice Engineer to support the design, development, testing and documentation of practical digital, automation and AI enabled solutions across Kingspan Insulated Panels.
This is an apprenticeship level role. The successful candidate is not expected to be a fully independent AI engineer from day one. The role is designed to provide supervised workplace experience aligned to a Software Developer apprenticeship pathway, with exposure to applied AI, automation, data handling and secure system integration.
Vacancy Description (Daily duties)
Software Development and Digital Solutions
· Assist with the design, development and testing of simple digital tools, scripts and applications.
· Learn to write clear, maintainable and secure code, ideally using Python or similar languages.
· Support the improvement of tools and processes through testing, feedback and iteration.
· Document requirements, changes, testing outcomes and user guidance clearly.
Applied AI and Automation
· Support the development and testing of practical AI enabled tools and workflow automations.
· Help identify business processes where automation or AI could reduce manual effort or improve access to information.
· Learn how prompts, structured information and internal data sources affect the quality of AI outputs.
· Gather user feedback and help translate it into improvement actions.
Integration, Data and Security
· Learn how business systems connect through APIs, data flows and integration patterns.
· Support simple integration and data preparation tasks under guidance.
· Handle data responsibly and follow agreed security, access control and governance standards.
· Work with IT and security colleagues to ensure solutions are safe and appropriate for business use.
Stakeholder Support and Professional Practice
· Work with colleagues across IT, operations, supply chain, commercial and customer service teams.
· Help gather requirements and explain technical ideas in clear business language.
· Take part in project discussions, demonstrations and review sessions.
Required skills/experience:
Technical Skills
· Interest in software development, AI, automation or digital problem solving.
· Willingness to learn coding, ideally Python or another relevant language.
· Basic understanding of IT systems, data and Microsoft 365 tools.
· Awareness of cyber security, data protection and responsible technology use.
Experience and Background
· Suitable for an apprentice, early career candidate or internal applicant with strong technical curiosity.
· Evidence of learning, personal projects, coursework, work experience or practical problem solving is welcome.
· Previous experience in IT, data, software, manufacturing or business improvement is helpful but not essential.
Soft Skills
· Curious, motivated and willing to learn.
· Able to work with support, take feedback and improve over time.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Practical problem solver who can work with colleagues from different teams.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
· Basic coding experience through education, work, online learning or personal projects.
· Awareness of APIs, databases, Power BI, automation tools or cloud platforms.
· Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or similar tools responsibly.
· Interest in manufacturing, construction, supply chain or operational improvement.
· Awareness of Agile ways of working

Additional Information
You will be required to work in person at Kingspan on a full-time basis (with time made for digital delivery of the apprenticeship programme).
If successful at interview with Kingspan, you will be invited to an Apprenticeship Awareness Session with Catapwlt as an informal interview.
Qualifications required
GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade A*-C / Level 2:

Interview Arrangements
If successful, you will initially be invited to assessment at Catapwlt (via Teams to confirm eligibility – please have available proof of ID and any relevant certificates. You will be sent an application via Catapwlt Smart Assessor Digital Platform and it is a mandatory requirement to attend our Apprenticeship Awareness Session.
Pay: £26,436.80 per year
