Adam Bernard Solicitors is a leading law firm based in London, dedicated to providing high-quality legal services across a range of practice areas. We are now seeking an experienced Accounts & operations Intern to join our team and support our busy finance function.
The Role
The Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Accounts and Operations functions within the firm. The role will involve assisting with financial administration, maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting compliance with SRA Accounts Rules, and providing operational support to ensure the smooth running of the firm.
The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team, solicitors, and support staff, gaining exposure to legal practice operations, internal processes, and business administration.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance Support
- Processing invoices, payments, receipts, and expenses accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintaining ledgers and reconciling client and office accounts in compliance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Assisting with daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Supporting client account and office account administration
- Assisting with payroll processing, VAT returns, and other statutory requirements
- Supporting month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Preparing financial reports and assisting with data entry and analysis
- Liaising with solicitors and support staff regarding accounts queries
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Carrying out general administrative duties within the accounts team
Operations Support
- Assisting with the day-to-day administrative operations of the firm
- Supporting the smooth running of office processes and internal workflows
- Assisting with supplier management, including maintaining supplier records and processing purchase requests
- Supporting office administration tasks including document management, filing, and record keeping
- Assisting with onboarding processes for new starters, including preparing documentation and coordinating internal requirements
- Maintaining internal databases, trackers, and operational records
- Supporting compliance-related administrative tasks and ensuring records are kept up to date
- Assisting with coordination of internal meetings, events, and firm-wide activities
- Supporting the implementation and improvement of operational procedures
- Providing general administrative support to different departments as required
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working in an accounts practice in the UK (experience in a legal practice is highly desirable)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial processes
- Good understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional approach with the ability to handle confidential information
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Proficiency in Urdu & English
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a professional services environment
- Experience using practice management or legal accounting software
- Understanding of legal business operations and compliance requirements
- Interest in developing a career in finance, operations, or legal practice management
