Job Summary
The position will initially be offered on a part-time, variable-hours basis, with the number of hours offered depending on sales, customer orders and current production requirements.
Working days and hours will normally be confirmed by Friday for the following week, allowing the business to respond to changing demand while giving the successful applicant notice of their working pattern.
As North Devon Soap Limited continues to grow, there may be an opportunity for the role to develop into a position with more regular and/or increased hours.
The role would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in producing high-quality products and is keen to learn new skills.
Key Responsibilities
Order Processing & Despatch
- Process customer and wholesale orders accurately and efficiently.
- Pick and prepare products for despatch.
- Package orders securely and professionally.
- Print and apply postage labels and prepare parcels for collection.
- Maintain accurate order and stock records.
- Ensure orders are dispatched within the required timeframe.
- Report stock shortages or production requirements to the manager.
Wax Melt Making
- Assist with the production of North Devon Soap Limited's handmade wax melts.
- Accurately weigh and prepare ingredients in accordance with established recipes.
- Pour, mould and finish wax melts.
- Allow products to cool and set correctly.
- Package and label finished products.
- Maintain clean and organised production areas.
Beard Balm Making
- Assist with the production of handmade beard balms.
- Accurately weigh and prepare ingredients.
- Follow established recipes and production procedures.
- Fill, finish, label and package finished products.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Soap Making Preparation
- Assist with preparation for soap production.
- Weigh and prepare oils and other ingredients.
- Prepare moulds, equipment and production areas.
- Assist with soap cutting, finishing, labelling and packaging when required.
- Clean and sanitise equipment and work areas following production.
- Follow all established soap-making procedures and safety requirements.
General Duties
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation.
- Follow company recipes, production procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Handle ingredients, equipment and finished products carefully.
- Monitor stock levels and report when ingredients or packaging need replenishing.
- Help maintain an efficient production workflow.
- Support the wider team with general production and fulfilment duties.
- Carry out other reasonable duties associated with the role as required.

Desirable
- Previous experience in soap, cosmetics, candle, wax melt or similar handmade product production.
- Experience of order fulfilment, packing or despatch.
- Experience working within a small manufacturing, retail or craft business.
- An interest in handmade and artisan products.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
