We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Sessional Cook to provide holiday and sickness cover on an as-and-when-required basis within our children's nursery.
The Role:
This role involves working 4 hours per day when required, preparing nutritious meals for babies through to school-aged children. We follow the Setting the Table nutritional guidance, and established menus are already in place to support meal planning and preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook lunch for children attending the nursery.
- Prepare and leave afternoon snacks ready for the team to serve.
- Ensure high standards of food hygiene and safety are always maintained.
- Wash dishes and maintain a clean and tidy kitchen environment.
- Follow existing menus and dietary requirements as required.

About You
- Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering
- Experience in food preparation and cooking.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- A caring and professional approach to working in a childcare setting.

Pay:
The hourly rate of pay for this role is £13.79 per hour.
The Setting:
The nursery is part of Flexible Childcare Services Scotland (FCSS). FCSS is a national charity that is unique in that parents are able to book childcare by the hour, pay as they go and change their bookings each week. This flexible childcare model helps save families money on their childcare while supporting them back into education and employment, helping to distance the whole family from poverty. Thanks to partnership with Dundee City Council the nursery offers fully funded places for eligible 2s and all 3–5-year-olds.
