About us
We are looking for a new team member to join our Alternative Provision at Keepers Gate Forest school. We are set in 30 acres of fields and woodland, offering local children an Alternative Provision for Reception and KS1 children.
We offer early intervention to children who are experiencing difficulties in mainstream education, by giving them the opportunity to attend our Forest school alongside school. We provide specialist education for children with an EHCP relating to SEMH, Trauma, ADHD, ASC and often other additional needs.
We all know that spending time in a woodland has so many benefits to our health and wellbeing. It is proven that it boosts our physical and mental health. Spending time in a woodland lower’s cortisol levels, helping us all feel calmer and less anxious. It is a place to heal. Our natural environment supports self regulation, and we support children as they learn to be aware of their own feelings and the feelings of others.
Being a trauma informed practice, we recognise that behaviour is communication and we need to meet a child’s individual needs by being their supportive enabling adult and building trusting relationships with them. We want children to grow and develop through trust, not pressure. Using a holistic approach, we focus on the child’s social, emotional and physical needs within our nurturing environment. We offer child-led activities, allowing children to choose their own direction for learning. Children are encouraged to assess and manage their own risk with adult support and learn what their capabilities are. Working in AP can be an incredibly fulfilling experience. Many children who attend Alternative Provision have complex needs.
Here at Keepers Gate, you will join our dedicated team to work with a maximum of 8 children, aged from Reception to the end of KS1. Some children that join us may need 1 to 1 support, which we will put in place. During the day, our routine is in place to make children feel safe and welcome. You will offer engaging activities; woodwork, den building and exploring the woodland, whatever the weather. You will support the children and help them to engage in the natural environment, as they learn to be proud of their personal achievements. You will be an emotionally available adult.
Pay: £14.00-£17.50 per hour
