About the Role
Unpaid carers often support loved ones without recognition or access to help. As a Carers Support Worker, you will provide confidential information, advice, and emotional support to carers through our hospital‑based hubs. You will help carers understand their rights, access services, and prioritise their own wellbeing, while raising awareness of carers’ needs across Gwent.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of confidential contact for carers at the Information Hubs.
- Provide empathetic 1:1 support, advice, and guidance.
- Help carers understand their role and access appropriate services.
- Advise on carers’ rights, assessments, and financial entitlements.
- Provide information on dementia, mental health, and relevant legislation.
- Signpost carers to community groups, services, and support networks.
- Promote carers’ involvement in care planning and decision‑making.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and monitoring data.
- Build strong relationships with statutory, third‑sector, and community partners.
- Support awareness‑raising and campaigning around carers’ issues.
- Assist with reports, administration, and service development.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, and health & safety policies.
- Attend training, supervision, and team meetings as required.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Commitment to personal development (willingness to work towards Level 3 Social Care).
- Experience building productive relationships and working with partner agencies.
- Strong IT, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage data, prioritise workload, and work under pressure.
- Understanding of carers’ needs, confidentiality, safeguarding, and equality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience in health or social care.
- Personal experience of caring for someone.
- Welsh language skills or other languages.
Pay: £25,800.00-£26,000.00 per year
