Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and support inclusive education practices within our vibrant Nursery. This vital role involves coordinating support for children with diverse needs, developing tailored educational plans, and fostering an environment where every child can thrive with in their learning, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, expertise in special education, and exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external specialists. Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs
- Coordinate assessments and liaise with external professionals such as speech therapists, psychologists, and occupational therapists
- Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on inclusive teaching strategies, behavior management, and accommodations
- Support classroom teachers in adapting curricula to meet diverse learning requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, interventions, and compliance with legal requirements
- Organize workshops and mentoring sessions for staff on early childhood education, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and Toddler care practices
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to update them on student progress and involve them in planning support strategies
Experience
- Proven experience working with children across early childhood education settings, including preschool or toddler care environments
- Demonstrated expertise in special education principles, including behavior management techniques and inclusive teaching methods
- Background in speech therapy or related communication skills development is highly desirable
- Experience conducting tutoring sessions or applying ABA techniques to support behavioral growth
- Familiarity with physical education activities tailored for children with special needs is a plus
- Strong mentoring skills with a history of supporting educators or caregivers in childcare settings
- Excellent proofreading skills to ensure clarity and accuracy in documentation and reports
