Role: Architectural Technologist.
EK Planning are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist-Technician, with a minimum of 5 years experience in a professional environment, to join its office near the village of West Malling in Kent.
We are a small but fast-growing architectural studio, based in Kings Hill near West Malling, Kent, with our office both easily accessible by public transport and ample free parking on site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on, varied role within a close-knit environment. You will work closely with other team members but also be able to work with a good level of independence and have the chance to take real ownership of your own projects.
We are looking for someone who is confident, proactive and hardworking. Our projects are mostly residential conversions and extensions, or new-build schemes throughout Kent and the Southeast, with commercial projects in Central London and, occasionally, nationwide.
We can offer an excellent all-round experience from initial conceptual design, through to architectural detailing and technical drawings through RIBA Stages 0-5.
Job Description:
- Collaborating with Principal Contractors and other professionals to develop architectural designs and plans.
- Creating detailed drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Working through RIBA Stages 0-4, with some Stage 5 work required.
- Assisting in the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Good all-round skills and the ability to run a project from concept to completion.
- Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project feasibility, alongside taking detailed measurements to produce existing and proposed drawings.
- Review and analyse building codes, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance.
- Assisting in the coordination of project activities with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Participating in design meetings and provide input on design concepts and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Part 1 or 2 architectural qualification or a related field with at least 5 years experience in a professional environment. Substantial experience working within a similar role essential.
- Knowledge of 3D software, such as SketchUp and/or Enscape, desirable but not essential.
- Portfolio of previous project work with technical drawings required for interview.
- Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite and MS Office essential.
- Excellent knowledge of the Approved Documents & building regulations preferable.
- Strong knowledge of architectural and construction principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
