Purpose of the Role
The Senior Early Years Practitioner / Deputy Manager will support the Nursery Manager in delivering high-quality childcare while helping oversee the daily operation of the nursery. The successful candidate will lead the team when required, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, maintain high standards of care and education, and contribute to a positive environment for children, families and staff.
Main Duties
- Lead the nursery in the absence of the manager.
- Open and close the nursery safely.
- Organise staff deployment throughout the day.
- Ensure ratios are maintained.
- Plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences.
- Support children’s development in line with the EYFS.
- Complete observations, assessments and learning records.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
- Support children’s care routines.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating environment.
- Monitor staff practice and provide guidance.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Support Ofsted readiness and continuous improvement.
- Work as part of the management team to achieve excellent standards across the nursery.
- £15.00–£17.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Starting salary will be agreed at appointment, with a formal salary review after a successful 3 month probationary period.
