Role Overview:
This Field Service Engineer position is focused on the installation, calibration, validation and maintenance of environmental monitoring systems and associated scientific equipment.
Supporting customers throughout the UK, you will work across pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, biotechnology facilities, hospitals and research laboratories, ensuring equipment operates reliably and in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.
The role offers significant variety, combining technical fault-finding, customer interaction and project-based installation work. Engineers should be comfortable working independently, travelling nationally and adapting to changing customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install and commission environmental monitoring systems and associated equipment.
- Perform calibration, validation and preventative maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, electronic and networking-related faults.
- Support customers with equipment operation, training and technical queries.
- Complete validation and service documentation accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Conduct system upgrades, modifications and equipment repairs where required.
- Work closely with internal project and technical teams to deliver successful installations.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality, compliance and customer standards.
- Maintain strong customer relationships whilst representing the company professionally on-site.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician or Maintenance Engineer.
- Strong electrical or electro-mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Experience installing, servicing or maintaining technical equipment.
- Comfortable working in customer-facing environments and building professional relationships.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Basic networking, sensor technology or wireless systems knowledge would be advantageous.
- Experience within scientific instrumentation, laboratory equipment, medical devices, environmental monitoring, refrigeration, HVAC controls, BMS, security systems or similar technical industries would be beneficial.
- Calibration, validation, GMP or GLP experience would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK, including regular overnight stays.
Package:
- Salary dependant on experience - £40,000-£45,000 (Can be sretched to £50,000 for GMP/GLP Validation experience)
- Accrued bonus dependent on how many nights an engineer stays away from home + company bonus. Just been implemented - i.e. quarterly performance £500 per quarter - £2,000 per annum
