We are a growing, fast-paced business where compliance is taken seriously. We are now looking for a highly competent Transport Compliance Manager to take full ownership of compliance and ensure the business operates to the highest legal and safety standards at all times.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on role with full responsibility for compliance across the fleet.
You will be expected to confidently manage all aspects of transport compliance, ensuring the company is always audit-ready and operating in line with all UK regulations.
The role involves a combination of practical compliance management and system-based record keeping, so attention to detail and confidence with compliance systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Full oversight of HGV compliance across tipper and tanker operations
- Managing and leading all DVSA audits and inspections
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence (O-Licence) undertakings
- Monitoring driver hours, tachographs, and Working Time Directive
- Overseeing maintenance systems, inspections, and defect reporting
- Managing tanker-specific compliance and safety procedures
- Maintaining accurate, complete, and audit-ready records at all times
- Conducting internal audits and implementing corrective actions
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and external auditors
- Supporting and enforcing driver compliance and standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior HGV compliance role
- Strong, working knowledge of UK transport legislation
This role is ideally suited to someone who has acted as a named Transport Manager on an Operator Licence or held direct responsibility for O-Licence compliance.
- Confident managing audits and dealing with regulatory bodies
- Strong understanding of tachograph analysis and driver hours rules
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to take full ownership
- Comfortable using compliance systems and maintaining detailed digital records
- Confident communicator who can challenge and enforce standards when required
Desirable:
- Transport Manager CPC qualification
- ADR / tanker compliance experience
- Experience with transport compliance systems/software
