We are recruiting for an EAP Tutor to join a small team which delivers credit-bearing insessional English modules on this UoD NEU JEP. You will hold recognised English teaching qualifications, such as CELTA and DELTA, have a Master's degree in a relevant subject, and have experience in teaching English in a university context, such as pre- or in-sessional EAP courses. Ideally, you will have experience of, or interest in, teaching STEM students.
The successful candidate will of EAP teachers at the Northeastern University Hunnan Campus in the south of the city. The campus is a pleasant place to live and work with good sports facilities, numerous canteens, grocery stores, an excellent library and plenty of open spaces.
Principal duties:
- Teaching up to 20 scheduled academic hours per week
- Marking student work and providing feedback
- Holding individual and small group tutorials as required
- Maintaining teaching records
- Contributing to collaborative work, including course and assessment development
- Running a weekday evening student social event (once every 3 weeks)
- Invigilating and marking exams
Must be able/willing to:
- Teach in an engaging, student-centred way
- Follow a syllabus and use provided lesson materials whilst also being able to adapt materials to students' needs
- Work collaboratively in a small team
- Work some evenings and the occasional weekend, both of which would be kept to a minimum
- Work some regular office hours outside of scheduled teaching in order to assist with other departmental duties
- On rare occasions, cover classes when colleagues are absent
Required qualifications & experience:
- Master's degree in relevant discipline
- CELTA, preferably DELTA
- At least 2 years' experience of teaching English in a university context
Useful experience of/interest in:
- Working with STEM students
- Experience of overseas work and/or study

- The expectation is that the postholder would reside in the UK when not working in the Peoples' Republic of China.
