Pastoral Support Teaching Assistant – Gosport

Our education recruitment agency is seeking dedicated Pastoral Support Teaching Assistants to work with schools across Gosport. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with pupils and helping them develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
The Role
As a Pastoral Support Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide emotional and pastoral support to pupils who may need additional guidance.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of support.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, self-esteem, and social skills.
- Support students experiencing challenges that impact their education, attendance, or behaviour.
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
- Assist with behaviour support strategies and help create a calm, inclusive school environment.
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups where required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people in an education, youth work, mentoring, care, or community setting.
- A calm, compassionate, and approachable manner.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain patient and positive when supporting challenging situations.
- An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of student wellbeing.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, Autism (ASC), or behavioural needs is desirable.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
