Role Purpose
We are seeking reliable, professional, and enthusiastic Cleaners to join our team supporting the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust.
You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming educational environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Working as part of a team, you will deliver cleaning services to the highest standards in line with the Trust's cleaning specification and Westgrove's commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning Duties
- Empty bins and remove waste from designated areas
- Replace bin liners and clean waste bins as required
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors according to floor type
- Spot clean spillages and ensure walkways remain safe and hazard-free
- Clean and disinfect desks, tables, chairs, worktops, and other surfaces
- Clean touchpoints including door handles, handrails, switches, and frames
- Clean classrooms, corridors, entrances, stairways, offices, and communal areas
- Restore classrooms to a ready-for-use condition, including positioning chairs and straightening furniture
- Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms, sinks, urinals, and associated fixtures
- Replenish consumables including soap, toilet rolls, and hand towels
- Remove food debris and maintain cleanliness within dining and break areas
- Carry out biohazard cleaning safely and in accordance with site procedures where required
Weekly and Periodic Cleaning Duties
- Complete deep cleaning tasks including machine scrubbing, burnishing, and floor treatments
- Vacuum and clean carpet edges and undertake stain removal
- Dust and clean high-level surfaces using appropriate equipment
- Clean internal glass, radiators, pipework, skirting boards, and windowsills
- Carry out deep cleaning of washrooms, tiled surfaces, and partitions
- Participate in school holiday cleaning programmes, including carpet extraction, floor restoration, wall washing, blind cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and high-level cleaning activities
General Responsibilities
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, damage, or safeguarding concerns promptly
- Maintain cleaning equipment in a safe and serviceable condition
- Follow safeguarding requirements when working within educational environments
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, school staff, and management
- Maintain professional standards of behaviour and appearance at all times
- Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors
Person Specification
Essential Requirements

Desirable
- Previous cleaning experience within schools, education, healthcare, or commercial environments
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals
- Understanding of safeguarding requirements within educational settings
- BICSc training or equivalent cleaning qualifications
