Food Production Operative
Working Hours : 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00 rotating Monday to Friday
Pay rate : £12.71 - £13.29 - depending on experience.
Roles can either be based in Stafford Park, Telford or Newport, Shropshire.
Overview
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Food Production Operator to join our busy food production team. You will play a key role in producing high-quality food products while ensuring all production processes meet strict food safety, quality, and hygiene standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating production equipment, preparing and packing food products, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in line with company procedures and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust food production machinery to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Prepare, portion, assemble, and package food products according to production schedules and customer requirements.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and quality procedures, including HACCP, allergen controls, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Carry out quality checks on raw materials, work in progress, and finished products, reporting any issues promptly.
- Ensure products are correctly labelled, packaged, and meet quality and traceability requirements.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and traceability records throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and work areas in line with cleaning schedules and food safety standards.
- Carry out basic equipment checks and report any faults or maintenance requirements to the relevant team.
- Minimise food waste by following correct handling, storage, and production procedures.
- Work closely with colleagues and supervisors to achieve daily production targets while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, wearing the correct PPE and following safe working practices at all times.
Experience
- Previous experience in food production or a similar manufacturing role is advantageous.
- Basic maths skills are essential for measuring ingredients and recording production data.
- Familiarity with HACCP principles and food safety regulations is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues effectively.
- A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the workplace.
