Senior Neonatal Nurse (Band 6)

Salary: Up to £64,615 per annum + Relocation Support
Sanctuary Personnel is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced and motivated Senior Neonatal Nurse (Band 6) to join a well-established Special Care Unit in Guernsey. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a senior clinical role within a supportive and forward-thinking neonatal service, where you’ll have the autonomy to lead, develop, and deliver high-quality care.
As a Senior Neonatal Nurse, you will take charge of the Special Care Unit, ensuring safe and effective coordination of care and staffing. You’ll play a key role in supporting both infants and their families, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and external UK services to deliver seamless care.
You’ll be confident working autonomously, attending deliveries, initiating neonatal resuscitation, and managing a range of neonatal care needs. Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will support and mentor junior staff, contribute to service development, and help maintain a high standard of care across the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts within the Special Care Unit, ensuring safe staffing and care delivery
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for neonates
- Attend deliveries and support neonatal resuscitation and stabilisation
- Act as an advocate for infants and their families, providing guidance and support
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff and students
- Contribute to clinical audits, service improvement, and evidence-based practice
- Participate in training, including off-island transfers and scenario-based learning
- Work collaboratively across paediatric services when required
Essential Requirements
- Registered Children’s Nurse (RCN), RN Child, or RGN with relevant neonatal experience
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing or related field
- Neonatal qualification (e.g. ENB/EMB 405 or equivalent)
- Neonatal Life Support (NLS) provider
- Minimum of 2 years’ neonatal nursing experience
- Ability to work independently and lead in acute situations
Desirable
- Leadership or management training
- Mentorship/assessing qualification
- Child protection training
