About Dingley’s Promise:
Dingley’s Promise provides life-changing support for children under 5 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. With centres across the South of England, South Coast and Midlands we are a growing national charity, we deliver specialist early years support, inclusive training, and work with partners to influence systems change.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Trustee responsibilities:
- have ultimate responsibility for the work of the charity
- must act in the best interests of the charity
- take decisions about the future of the charity
- ensure the organisation remains sustainable
- consider likely future challenges and prepare the charity to face them
- ensure the charity is working within the law
- be accountable for the organisation
- monitor to ensure the charity is meeting objectives
- ensure the board is working effectively and efficiently
Other responsibilities:
· Provide perspective and informed input to the Board and CEO on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) matters relevant to Dingley’s Promise, helping ensure EDI is appropriately considered in Board discussions and decision-making.
· Offer advice and input when needed on matters relating to organisational culture, particularly in supporting a culture that is respectful of and aligned with EDI principles.
· Act as a sounding board for the CEO, making time to provide support or guidance on EDI-related topics connected to Dingley’s Promise’s work, when requested.
· Review EDI-related statements or plans at a high level, as appropriate, providing feedback and perspective rather than operational oversight.
· Support Board succession by helping to identify and hand over to a future trustee with an interest or experience in EDI at the end of their term.
Trustee Time Commitment:
· Attend Board meetings held once every two months.
· Visit at least one Centre every term.
· If interested in joining a Board subcommittee, attend meetings held once every two months.
· Read all documentation before each meeting and prepare questions in advance
