Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organised Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing transactions, and supporting merchandising efforts at our retail counter. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be multilingual (particularly bilingual in English and Spanish), and demonstrate a keen eye for organisation. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Operate the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and process payments efficiently
- Support merchandising activities by organising products on display and replenishing stock as needed
- Upsell products and promote special offers to maximise sales opportunities
- Maintain a clean and tidy counter area to ensure a welcoming shopping environment
- Provide product information and advice to customers, enhancing their shopping experience
- Manage phone enquiries courteously, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette
- Assist with stock organisation and inventory checks to ensure stock levels are maintained
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth store operations
Requirements
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and balancing tills accurately
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
- Experience in merchandising or retail is advantageous but not essential
- Demonstrated phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Bilingual abilities will be considered a significant asset in serving our diverse customer base
