About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Yard Supervisor to join our operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced yard/logistics/transport professional looking to take the next step in their career.
Reporting to the Yard Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the oversight of the daily operations of the yard, coordinating the safe movement of vehicles, plant, materials, and modular units across site. You will provide day-to-day supervision of Yard Operatives and FLT Drivers while ensuring the highest standards of safety, organisation, and efficiency are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of FLT Drivers and Yard Operatives to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Support the Yard Manager in coordinating daily and weekly schedules for unit movements and deliveries.
- Liaise with Factory and Production Supervisors to support the smooth movement of materials and modular units across site.
- Coordinate vehicle, plant and unit movements in accordance with site procedures and act as a banksman where required.
- Support site traffic management activities and promote safe working practices at all times.
- Conduct daily morning briefings with yard personnel, communicating priorities, planned movements and operational updates.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organised and efficient yard layout, including storage areas, access routes and pedestrian segregation.
- Ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are followed during lifting operations and vehicle movements.
- Conduct pre-start inspections of yard areas and equipment, reporting defects, hazards and safety concerns promptly.
- Promote and enforce compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels of yard tools, equipment and materials, reporting shortages where necessary.
- Ensure the proper use, care and maintenance of equipment and materials within the area of responsibility.
- Attend and contribute to operational, production and health and safety meetings, providing updates on yard and transport activities when required.

- Previous experience in a yard, logistics, manufacturing, transport, or warehouse environment.
- Experience supervising operational teams.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within an operational environment.
- Experience coordinating vehicle and site movements.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments
- FLT certification – essential
- Banksman qualification – desirable
- First Aid qualification – desirable
- Fire Warden training – desirable

Pay: £15.50-£17.18 per hour
