Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Lead Vehicle Auto Electrician to lead and support the auto electrical side of our specialist vehicle production operation. This is a hands-on working team leader position, combining vehicle electrical installation with responsibility for organising and supporting the electrical team.
Car & Commercial Solutions Ltd is a family-run specialist vehicle conversion company. We produce a wide variety of bespoke vehicles for sectors including the emergency services, fleet, commercial and specialist transport industries.
The Role
You will work alongside the electrical team while helping to organise the department’s daily workload and ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting the auto electrical team on a day-to-day basis
- Remaining actively involved in hands-on electrical installation work
- Allocating work and ensuring the team understands daily priorities
- Monitoring progress against production schedules and build requirements
- Installing electrical systems and components into specialist vehicles
- Wiring vehicle lighting, control systems, auxiliary equipment and accessories
- Installing beacons, work lights, interior lighting, sirens, cameras and other specialist equipment
- Reading and working from wiring diagrams and build instructions
- Testing completed installations and diagnosing electrical faults
- Checking the quality and consistency of work completed by the team
- Supporting and training less-experienced members of staff
- Identifying and resolving problems that could affect production
- Working closely with production management, vehicle builders and other departments
- Ensuring the work area is kept safe, clean and organised
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong experience in vehicle electrics, auto electrical installation or a similar role
- Be confident working with 12V vehicle electrical systems
- Be able to read and understand wiring diagrams
- Have strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Have previous team-leading, supervisory or mentoring experience
- Be comfortable organising workloads and supporting other team members
- Produce tidy, accurate work and maintain high quality standards
- Be dependable, organised and able to communicate clearly
- Be willing to take responsibility while remaining fully hands-on
- Have their own basic hand tools
- Hold a full UK driving licence
Experience within specialist vehicle conversions, emergency vehicles, commercial vehicles is a must.

Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am–4:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am–3:30pm
